M 35 - 13" Papier-mâché or Compo Tyrolean boy in Orig. Box

This is a cute little boy doll...13" (33cm) tall and fully jointed at neck, shoulders and hips. He is made of papier-mâché or a light composition...quite lightweight. He is dressed in authentic leather lederhosen and a jaunty red checked shirt. He wears a felt Tyrolean hat with a brush in the back. He is in his original, but unmarked, box... the corners on the lid have all been taped.
I think you can easily see that he is missing a good part of the lashes on his right eye...the eyelid finish has also been chipped on that right eye...when the eyes are open you can't see the chipped lid. There is also a tiny dark speck on his right cheek. He's a sturdily built young lad...quite charming!
He is priced at $85.00

M 31 - Bisque "Birthing Egg" / Naughty Flipper

I really don't know if these have a definite name…I've always called them "birthing eggs", for lack of a better name I guess. I've seen many variations, and this is about the smallest I've had. It measures 1 ¾" high and 1 ¼" in diameter. The baby's head sticks out of a cracked hole along with the right hand…the left hand sticks out of a small opening below. On the flip side the 'tush' and left foot are in the main hole with the tip of the right foot below. The drain hole is visible on the backside. It balances very well with the 'cheeks' and feet.

This little one is priced at $195.00

M 30 - 6" Staffordshire Trinket Box ~ Cat in Bunting

This is an unusual piece of Staffordshire pottery…both the cat featured, and the yellow trim. The green-eyed cat with nightcap and nightie is charming with her open smiling mouth and tiny delicate eyelashes. The bed has yellow pillows and bow ties over the ruffled edges of the top. Bedding has floral decorations in rust/red. There is wear and darkening on the bottom but no chips or cracks. There is a hint of an impressed number on the bottom, but it is slightly warped and didn't take the impression well…"1??2" perhaps. There is some wear to the gold edges of the pillow and the top of her bonnet, and a rub on the bottom part of the yellow pillow where the top was slid off and on. The insides of the ears are slightly pink and the edges are touched with gray.

She's a sweetie and is priced at $445.00

M 29 - Lg. German Wood Farm Set ~ Erzgebirge ~ 1900-1920

This is a lovely old German wood farm set…in a wood box with patterned paper covering. I hope the pictures show it all without my counting all the pieces and enumerating them all. I like the fence sections made of twigs, with 2 gates that open…also love the dog in his red-roofed house! Cute little bridge too, but as you can see the wagons are about to crash in the middle…one will have to back their horses off! There's a windmill, and great stable with "hay" in the loft, 5 wagons, 2 wheelbarrows...3 goats, 3 pigs, sheep, dogs, cute shaved wood trees...lots of fun stuff to play with! By the way, the box has it's little hook latch…I found it in the bottom of the box under some old tissue…needs to be glued in I guess. There are some unusual animals…a buck deer with his doe, a pair of foxes…some other small brown creatures that I thought might be cats, but their tails are short…maybe rabbits with short ears? Or woodchucks? Fun set for setting up around a feather tree at Christmas…a typical German toy from the southern Erzgebirge region. If you want to start a collection, this would be a great group to form a nucleus, or to add to a village grouping, but it is just great by itself! Circa 1900-1920. I have other pictures…couldn't squeeze any more into the allowed space!

The set is priced at $475.00

M 27 - 7" French Celluloid Doll ~ Petit Colin/Sandra Dogue

This doll is really "mint"…clean, bright, un-faded, and still retaining tag and cellophane covering! She is from the 1950s, and according to her tag "The Sandra Dogue dolls faithfully reproduce the original costumes of Martinique. They are produced with the greatest care and have a remarkably good finish". This "report of quality" is issued by the "National Association for the defence (sic) of french (sic) quality". The celluloid doll was made by Petit Colin of France.

She is priced at $95.00

M 20 - Hertwig Clown Head Bottle Stopper

Another great Hertwig item! This happy bisque clown has a moveable hat that is strung with elastic like the nodders (or knotters) are. He is marked "Germany" on his ruff, and "6326" on the back of his head. This piece is in mint condition, doesn't appear to have ever been used...cork is perfect too. With his hat straight up he is 4 3/8" tall, the bisque portion is 2 ¾". Really cute!

He is priced at $65.00.

M 19 - Hertwig China Baby Bottle Stopper

The Hertwig Company of Germany made some really wonderful and unusual items. These cork base bottle stoppers are just one example. This piece is 3 ¾" overall, the china portion is 2 5/8". It is marked "Germany" on the black base, and "6332" on the back of the dark green wine bottle. There is no damage to the china portion...some of the cork is missing on the bottom. There are a few tiny specks on the top of the head and one on the back...done in the making. A cute plump baby pulling a wine bottle cork...who'd have thought it!

He is priced at $110.00.

M 9 - 8" Dutch Celluloid Doll by Dovina ~ Made in Holland

This 8" all celluloid doll is all original...she is clean and perfect...never played with and un-faded too. She is totally Dutch also, I think she is made by Dovina...her back is embossed "Made in Holland", and her paper tag, hidden under her apron, says "Mill-Box Souvenirs / Holland / Genuine Dutch Costumes / Unbreakable / Washable / Can Be Undressed". She has jointed arms and legs, and wears cotton panties, checked petticoat, heavy flannel dress (with snap closure) and lace cap...plus of course her little wooden shoes! Her hair is molded and flax bangs are added in front.

She is priced at $50.00.

M 4 - 4 German Bisque Sheep by Kling

I recently acquired a fabulous collection of lovely old German bisque animals. These are all from the C.F. Kling porcelain factory of Ohrdruf, Thuringia, Germany. Many of them are family groups and were still on salesman's sample cards, or bits thereof. The bisque is fine quality, early and sharp.

This is a beautiful group, and a nice big size too with lots of detail. The mother stands 2 5/8" high, and 4" long. The lambs are 1 3/8" to 2 3/8" high, and 2 1/2" to 3 1/4" long. They are all perfect except for the largest standing lamb (not the mother). The very tip of his left ear is chipped and there is a separation behind the left shoulder…this is a factory defect, not a crack.
They are priced at $ 145.00 for the four.

There are 3 of these nice little bisque foxes. Mama and her 2 kits. The mother sits alert at 1 3/4" high with her dark muzzle and nice detail to her coat. The two little ones are curled and crouching low…getting ready to pounce! They are about 1 1/4" long. No damage.
The three are priced at $95.00.

This mouse is so real he almost squeaks! He is 2 5/8" long and about 1 1/4" high. His color is very realistic, with tiny painted dots for his whiskers, and delicate little feet. His tail is away from his body except for a 1/4" connection at his front paw. He is just great!
He is priced at $95.00.

M 5 - 2 3/4" Pr. Dog Place Card Holders by Hertwig

These were made by the Hertwig porcelain factory of Katzhutte, Thuringia, Germany. They appear to be salesmen's samples, with their stock numbers and prices on paper stickers on their backs. Little coated wires are in the tops of their heads to hold place cards. The pink pooch has the #4732 just above his tail and again on the paper sticker, and the green guy has #4730 in both places. The pink one is begging, while the green one holds a bouquet of flowers. Both have orangey-amber glass eyes with black pupils. I have little all bisque dolls with these same oversize eyes...they are Hertwig also. Email us for close-up pictures of their faces. This cute pair is priced at $125.00
