AB 124 - 7" All Bisque 'Bonnie Babe' Boy

This is the largest size of the all bisque 'Bonnie Babe'...it is rare and very hard to find. The neck flange, arms and legs are all marked with '17'...the size only. The inside of the leg also has the number 897. He is in perfect condition and adorable. As you can see, he retains most of his paper chest label.

This wonderful face was designed by Georgene Averill in 1926, and since the larger heads, made for cloth-bodied babies, were made by Alt, Beck & Gottschalck, it is assumed that the all bisque toddlers were also made by them.

The head has great molded curls all around in light reddish brown, dimpled cheeks, blue sleep eyes, incredibly fine eyelashes, and an adorable mouth in a big twisted grin showing off two lower teeth.

The body is super with darling chubby arms with spread fingers, and stocky fat legs with white ribbed socks and blue one-strap slippers. He wears a carefully crocheted little romper suit in blue and white and a matching little sleeveless vest over that.

This extra rare and darling child is priced at $1670.00

AB 123 - 4 3/8" Boy in Blue Velvet Suit

This is a wonderful little boy with a lovely expression. He has molded blond hair with nice detail, and a very appealing face. His legs have molded checkered stockings with blue bands at the top and blue one-strap shoes. His back is marked only "Germany" and "2"...no maker's mark.

He is dressed in his period blue velvet suit...it was obviously made for him by a talented adult, and is in great shape with only some wear to the edges and sleeve creases where he was held and played with. There is a white shirt front (no back to it) that is sewn to the pants, and a blue tie at the neck...this was cut from the selvage of a different fabric.

This little chap is priced at $180.00

AB 122 - 2 ½" Pair French "Peek-a-Boo" All-Bisques

This tiny pair are in remarkably original condition...doesn't appear that they were played with at all. Their costumes and wigs are in place and undamaged except for a little bite out of the hem area on her jacket back. They both have coiled medusa-style blond mohair wigs...hers is topped with the tiniest straw hat with a red bow at the back!

They are both fully jointed with swivel necks, have painted features...he has brown eyes, hers are blue...and both have reddish brown painted boots. Under her cotton-lined coral silk skirt she has lacy underwear! He has 4 tiny brass bead buttons on his vest. His jointing is a little loose, but he displays very well.

Remember that these are only 2 ½" tall...probably half (or less) the size you see them!

They are priced at $575.00 for the pair.

AB 121 - 8 ½" All Bisque Kestner '208'

Here is another 8 ½" Kestner all-bisque...this one is a red head...her mohair wig is a replacement but it is lovely and suits her complexion perfectly! She has brown sleep eyes and dark red-brown brows, and rather highly blushed cheeks. She has lovely hands with separate thumbs, and legs with the usual white stockings with blue garter bands and black one-strap shoes with tan soles.

Her clothing is all original and fabulous! Her dress has stripes of light blue, tucks at the hem, and lace on the bodice, neck and cuffs...it is all hand sewn (by a skilled person) and buttons at the back. Her underwear is great too...one piece camisole/drawers with a petticoat over...both have tucks and lace trims.

As to any faults, she has lost most of her eyelid wax, and there are several rubs to her cheeks...still a very appealing little girl!

She is priced at $695.00.

AB 120 - 8 ½" All Bisque Kestner '150'

This is a lovely little doll with nice pale bisque, softly blushed cheeks, brushed brows, brown sleep eyes with perfect lid wax, a sweet mouth with 4 upper teeth, and her original plaster pate and wig. The back of her head is marked 3.150+, her arms and legs are marked 150 3, so all parts match.

She has no damage to any of her bisque parts...there are a couple of tiny rubs to her right cheek, but since she is so fair, they don't show much. There is also a tiny line of black paint by her shoe strap on her left foot...done in the making.

She wears what appear to be her original undies...lace trimmed drawers and petticoat...and a cotton organdy pinafore that is perhaps a tad large but looks good on her...suits her delicate feminine look.

She is priced at - Sale Pending

AB 118 - 4" 'Little Annie Rooney' Comic Character

This is a very rare little character doll...it is only the second one I have ever had in about 25 years! She is impressed on her back: 'Little Annie Rooney / Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. / Copr. By Jack Collins', and 'Germany' at the top of her jacket.

She is in very nice condition, but has rubs to the toes and heels of her yellow shoes...she was obviously held there. There is also a paler area on both sides of her face where the yarn braids were probably glued initially...they could be re-glued to hide that easily, but I will leave that decision to the next owner. There is also a tiny dot of green on her right cheek.

She's a rare cutie with a sweet pixie face!

She is priced at $250.00

AB 117 - 4 ¾" All Bisque 'Bonnie Babe'

These little Bonnie Babes are among my favorites...so cute and such great detail! This size is sometimes listed as 5" but it is really 4 ¾". The neck flange, arms and legs are all marked with '11'...the size only. The inside of the leg also has the number 897. She is in almost perfect condition...with just one miniscule flake at the neck edge.

The body is super with darling chubby arms with spread fingers, and stocky fat legs with white ribbed socks and pink one-strap slippers. She wears her original little light yellow dotted Swiss dress with top stitching in pink silk at the neck, arms and pocket.

This rare and darling child is priced at $1050.00.

AB 114 - 6 ¼" Kestner '156' Character Doll

This is a charming doll with nice size...they are usually more in the 5" range. It is also hard to find this glass-eyed version, the painted eye '155' being the more common. To make her even better, she has side-glancing flirty sleep eyes...in the original set and with perfect lids! She has lovely delicate hands. She wears a newly crocheted sailor dress with matching panties and tam.

Her head is marked '156 - 5' and Germany on her upper back. Her arms and legs are all marked '155 - 5'...these same parts would have been used on the painted eye version of this mold...Kestner economics! Her eyes have neatly painted lashes all around, and her darling mouth shows an open space between her lips to look like her teeth showing in a smile.

The toe of her right foot was broken off and glued back...it hardly shows and there is no repaint, but there is a small flake off the white part within the strap area...you might be able to detect it in the picture. Her wig is original and I have removed it to check her head...it is perfect with no chips or hairlines...but it does exhibit a common Kestner habit of being slightly pushed in at the back rim, causing a little rim separation on the inside...it has the usual little wooden bar inserted into the opening to stop the eye rocker weight.

This charmer is priced at $495.00

AB 112 - 3" MIBS ~ Louis Amberg & Son ~ 1921

Only 3" tall, but what a cute little character doll! Mibs was designed by Hazel Drucker in 1921. She has a wistful expression with molded hair with a curl on the center of her forehead and an upturned bob in back...sweet and childlike. She is so cute nude that she is rarely seen dressed. This little one is fortunate to still have her label (though the top part is hard to read)...it says "Please love me...I'm MIBS".

Her back is impressed "C" in a circle (copyright) LA&S Co - Germany. She has no damage but an extra bit of brown shoe color is on her sock (right inside leg)...this is only seen from the back...there is also a tiny thin line of that brown on her tush.

She is priced at $245.00

AB 105 - 3 ½" Early Kestner with Blue Stockings

This little beauty has a magnificent original wig! Kestner used these fabulous frizzy blond wigs on their better early and tiny dolls. I've had many of them and they are always made the same way with bows at the top and bottom...really sweet. It is on a gauze wig cap.

The doll is adorable too! She has a slightly turned head, set blue glass eyes (no lashes on these early ones), lovely soft rosy cheeks and a tiny coral mouth. She has peg-jointed arms and legs...delicate cupped hands, and legs with shirred blue stockings, dark brown strapped slippers with tiny heels and tan soles. There is no damage to any of her bisque parts.

She wears a simple child-made dress of coral (probably cotton but rather silky), a pink under-dress, silky diaper sort of panties, and a cotton apron.

This delicate little girl is priced at $325.00

AB 104 - 3 ½" Pair of Kewpie "Huggers"

Aren't they adorable? One tilting back a bit and looking rather timid...the other with a firm stance and leaning in close to touch cheeks!

They are in great condition with no chips or cracks. Color is very nice and even. They are marked with the copyright 'c' on the bottom. There is a small burst bubble on the inside edge of the back foot towards the heel (see second picture at the bottom). Slight rubs to the back of the feet...and 2 small dark dots of paint...or kiln debris. From the front neither of these things is visible...just their darling faces!

These cuties are priced at $185.00

AB 102 - 3 ¾" Glass-eyed All Original Swiss Girl

This is a wonderful little doll in the detailed costume of the Canton of Berne, Switzerland. She has a pretty little face with dark brown glass set eyes, fine lashes all around, a sweet tiny mouth and softly blushed cheeks. She is perfect too, with no damage anywhere.

Her graceful hands, and legs with brown mid-calf stockings, and black heeled slippers with one strap, lead me to believe that she was made by Simon & Halbig. I am not about to remove her perfect wig, with long blond mohair braids still tied with the original black silk, to see if her head is marked. Her black velvet bonnet is tied over that also. Her limbs are pegged so she is fairly early also.

Her costume is quite elaborate starting with lace trimmed pantalets and petticoat, a fine black wool skirt with red binding at the hem, cotton blouse with puffed sleeves and tucked bodice, red sateen apron, and the pretty black velvet vest with beaded flowers on the front. Metallic cord steps in to represents the fine chains that normally are seen going under the arms with this costume.

She is just a great miniature doll in fabulous condition!

AB 101 - 5" Kestner 620 with Swivel Neck

This sweet little doll is all ready for your dollhouse or miniature doll collection. She was carefully dressed in a white lacy confection with a blue silk rosette to match the blue bow in her gorgeous original wig. Her swivel neck allows her to assume many cute poses!

Her head is marked '620.3'. Her lovely wig is on Kestner's usual pink muslin wig cap. Arms are marked '130.3' and legs '3'...the 3 being her size. Kestner used these same arms on several different head models...a standard economical practice. There is no damage to any of her bisque parts.

Her dress is sewn on, and under it are lace panties and a pretty cutwork white petticoat. She of course comes on her stand ready for display.

She is priced at $265.00

AB 100 - 3 ¼" Pair Hertwig Flapper Girls ~ Adorable and All Original!

It's nice to find these little dollhouse dolls that have been packed away for decades! They are clean and wear bright costumes. They are a perfect pair with bows on opposite sides of the hats, but matching flower decorations on their vests.

These are definitely products of the clever and diverse Hertwig Company...from the late 20s or 30s. The girl in orange has "Germany" impressed on her right inner thigh...the one in blue may be unmarked. They are usually impressed on their backs as well, but with the clothing sewn on, you can't see the back at all.

They are the usual pre-tinted pink bisque that Hertwig used for all of these little dolls. They are free of any damage, and ready to join your doll collection, or your dollhouse family.

The pair is priced at $235.00

AB 88 - 5 ¼" Sleep-Eyed Kling Girl

This little girl was made by Kling…her head has typical Kling cut at the crown and is impressed "65 (bell) 12". She also is identifiable as a Kling by her brick pattern stockings. Her brown 2-strap shoes also have a pattern to them…alligator??… plain un-textured heels and tan soles. She has dark brown sleep eyes with the original wax and set, but they seem to need a little assist to close…the weight just isn't heavy or long enough. She has the early heavy brass wire jointing.
The tips of the first two fingers of her left hand are chipped on the cupped inside…hardly noticeable.

She wears a new polka dot silk dress and lace panties…all set to party!

She is priced at $325.00

AB 87 - 5" Sleep-Eyed, Swivel Neck Bye-Lo Baby in Cradle

In 1925 the Kestner Company started making little all-bisque versions of the popular Bye-Lo Baby copyrighted by Grace Storey Putnam in 1923. This is a charming little 5" version with blue sleep eyes, a swivel neck, and blue slippers with white socks. She is impressed on her flange neck "12"…her size. On her back is "6 - 12 / Copr. by / Grace S. Putnam / Germany"… on her legs " 894 - 12"…arms "12".

She wears her creamy soft fine cotton gown with tucks and lace trim…if not original at least old and made for her. A soft flannel diaper protects her tush!

She sits or sleeps in her perfectly sized wicker cradle…probably from the 1940s or 50s. A sweet little combo!

Priced at $725.00

AB 84 - Wonderful Clown Squirter Doll by Carl Schneider

In case you are unfamiliar with these, the top of the head has a rubber bulb (usually long gone) and it was removed to fill the hollow body with water, when the bulb was replaced and squeezed the boy would "pee" in a nice arc! This amazingly still has the rubber bulb, but it has hardened and can no longer be squeezed without destroying it.
He is 3 7/8" tall and is impressed on his lower legs in back...3435. This is a typical Hertwig number, and the style and work are typical of the Hertwig factory too. He is perfect!

He is priced at $195.00

AB 72 - 2" Action Kewpie With Mandolin ~ Rose O'Neill Label

This is one of the "Action" Kewpies…this was part of a series of 12…one for each month…all at this tiny size…fun to collect all of them or just treasure each separately. This one is lucky to have retained his full paper label on his back "Copyright Rose O'Neill". He is perfect with no rubs or chips…some pencil notations on the bottom may be previous prices… "8--/15". A tiny little charmer!

He is priced at $395.00.

AB 71 - 7" All Bisque "Prize Baby" ~ Hertel & Schwab # 208/5

Here is another nice 7" all bisque Hertel & Schwab "Prize Baby". She is I little later than AB 70…with brown sleep eyes and her original side part mohair wig. She is marked '208/5' on her head, has a partial paper label on her chest, and a reddish brown stamp on her back 'Made in Germany'. She has elastic stringing with molded loop joints, and her legs have ribbed stockings with black one-strap shoes with little heels and tan soles. She wears a three-piece crocheted wool dress with silky pink edging and ribbon ties. She has no cracks, chips or other damage. She will come with her new stand also.

AB 69 - 3 ½" Pr. Oriental All Bisque Dolls in Original Basket

This little pair are in remarkable condition…they have been stored away in a dark chest for years…as a result they are clean and bright…really MINT! I have had these undressed, so I know they are marked "Japan" on their backs…the bottom of the basket container is lightly stamped too. They are dressed as Chinese children…the boy has a queue! They are all bisque with jointed arms and legs…you won't find a nicer pair!

They are priced at $75.00

AB 62 - German Comic Nodder ~ UNCLE BIM

This is a wonderful 3 7/8" German bisque comic nodder (or knotter, as some prefer) made by the great Hertwig & Co. This dapper gent is UNCLE BIM and I would call his condition near mint...he has been restrung, so he is very easy to pose. He is mounted on an old cardboard disk, as were several others from this collection. There is a tiny slight rub on his right elbow and another on the bottom of his jacket. He is marked on his back "UNCLE BIM / Germany".

He is priced at $175.00.

AB 46 - 6" Limbach "Our Mary" with Sleep Eyes

I've always liked these little "Our Mary" dolls, sometimes they still have their paper labels on their tummies, but this one doesn't. They are cute little girls, with chubby tummies and sturdy little arms and legs...perhaps 5 or 6 year olds. The German firm of Limbach made these dolls in the 1920's. She has her original brown mohair wig and blue sleep eyes surrounded by tiny painted lashes. Rosy cheeks and a dimple in her chin complete her sweet face. They are marked on their back with Germany and a number...her dress is sewn on so I can't give you that number. Arms and legs are elastic loop jointed. She is dressed in a more recent handmade checked silk dress that is splitting along one line in the back...should be fine if not handled overly much. She also has new-ish panties. I see no damage to her bisque...and only one tiny rub to the very bottom of her left cheek blush.

This little one is priced at $250.00.

AB 45 - 4 5/8" Blue Bonnet Head Doll

This little charmer has a wonderful molded bonnet that ties under her chin, and boots with tassels and little heels...all in a lovely pure blue. She wears a simple lace dress with a blue silk sash. As is the norm with these, her hips are un-jointed...only her arms move and they are wire jointed. The back of her bonnet is un-tinted (also the norm) and there is one tiny flake on the back rim edge, which you can't see from the front...very slight.

She is priced at $ 125.00.

AB 17 - Boy & Girl Pair Early Stone Bisque Figures

These are a cute little matched pair of early stone bisque (solid and heavy) children...the boy is a bigger brother trying on his Napoleon hat, while little sister pulls on her socks. He is 2 7/8" and she is 2 3/8". Both have nicely molded nightshirts with blue bands, and molded and textured blond hair. Cute painted facial features with rosy cheeks. There might be the tiniest of chips to the corner of her right toe, or it might just be the way the edge was trimmed from the mold...it is feel-able more than visible. This cute pair is priced at $95.00.
